Research Notes for Jeremiah Alexander Sankey (father of Thomas Daniel Sankey) and Research Warning about three different men named Jeremiah Sankey in Centre County at the same time

Research Warning:

There were three Jeremiah Sankeys (one has the middle name of Asher not Alexander) in the Pennslvania Archives, Civil War cards: in Centre County during the time of the Civil War:

1. Jeremiah Alexander Sankey is born in 1842 he would have been 18 in 1863 or 22 in 1865. Can't find any record of my Jeremiah Alexander Sankey 's Civil war service?? Possibly listed in Centre County Militia 1862 (According to the Linn History of Centre County) Jeremiah Alexander Sankey served in the militia. (MY DIRECT LINE)

2. Jeremiah Sankey is 27 years old in 1864 (as corporal) Company L- Regement 3, Artillery, 4-752 Bates reference (this one was a shoemaker and deserted on July 22, 1865) 

3. Jeremiah Asher Sankey is 25 years old in 1862, the card records him dying at City Point, VA 3-25-1865 of wounds received in action, from Potter's Mills, PA (1st Serg.) Company F- Regiment 3, Artillery, 4-597 Bates ref (this one was a Farmer from Potter) ALSO you may want to go through and check the counties listed for the years for Centre because it may have changed a few times: county origination dates are on the PA archives website. (NOT MY DIRECT LINE: COUSIN TO JEREMIAH ALEXANDER)

Cowden Gilliland History 1915 by Robert Cowden book entry for Jeremiah Alexander Sankey: birth and death dates match.3 Centre County Militia 1862. [This is probably Jeremiah Alexander Sankey]1  

Attended Sinking Creek in 1801: Jerimiah Alexander Sankey was listed as member of congregation from 1803-1810.1 (Need to look for original membership list for Sinking Creek church)

(Jerimiah and Thomas bought land together: part of the John McConnel tract: March 19, 1801)1 [Note: This might be Jeremiah Sankey grandfather and Thomas Sankey, great grandfather of Jeremiah Alexander Sankey] 1870 Census: Jeremiah Alexander Sankey (listed as Hotel Keeper in Snowshoe, Centre Co. PA) with Lydia A. his wife and Joseph Hudson (age 3) as well as Thomas D [Daniel] Sankey age 1.2 Jeremiah A. Sankey, Harris Twp., 3/3/1846, brothers are James, Thomas, William Sisters: Catherine Gilliland, Jane Sankey, Margret Gilliland, Abagail Sankey. Ex: Geor.
